As a Lead Linux Support Engineer, you’re a Linux guru who conquers the most intricate challenges by providing innovative and unique solutions for our customers while giving guidance and mentoring to Jr. Engineers. Your technical talent, team-based mentality and leadership will continue to guide the growth of our engineers and drive us to the next level. You will own complex customer issues which may take several days or weeks to resolve, which also means you’ll be a key partner in building relationships with customers as you advise them of any pitfalls and alternatives that may better serve their solutions along the way.

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Support our clients, ensuring their infrastructures stay up and running 24/7 while working with leading-edge technology.
  • Define, Design, Implement, and Support complex network infrastructures.
  • Install, Configure, Deploy, Standardize, Automate, Update, Support, and Troubleshoot services for customers such as:
    • LAMP Stack: Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP
    • OS level concerns
    • Web Servers
    • Database Services Servers (MySQL, Redis)
    • Applications Servers
    • Mail (Mail Transfer Agents)Email Services
    • Scripting: Perl, Shell, Bash, PHP, Ruby (PHP a plus), etc.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge and love of Linux operating system (preferably a Debian distribution).
  • Advanced/Expert knowledge of servers/computers hardware and software, DNS, and networking fundamentals including diagnostics with Linux tools.
  • Expertise with LAMP: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.
  • Experience Architecting and Designing complex infrastructures.
  • Experience working in a computer technical field, enterprise server environment and / or web hosting environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
  • Inherent problem-solver with desire to learn and take on responsibilities

As a Webscale Network Support Engineer, you will be part of our India Support team who is responsible for supporting our clients via phone, email or chat. The primary responsibility of our support organization is to ensure our customers infrastructures stays up and running 24x7x365. As a Support Engineer, you will work with leading-edge software and cloud technologies. You will also assist customers during service related events, including creating support tickets and answering basic technical questions related to their environment and Webscale services. As needed, you will also be the primary contact who will provide coordinated escalation to advanced technical support engineers to resolve open tickets.

Candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of hands-on system administration experience with RedHat or Ubuntu Linux. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years in a customer support role.

  • Provide 1st level customer support for our customers, ensuring their infrastructures stay up and running 24/7.
  • Ensure shortest restoral times possible for our customer, initiating timely escalations according to our customer contracts and service level agreements (SLA’s).
  • Perform and document initial troubleshooting procedures.
  • Open, manage, and close support tickets according to documented, standard support processes.
  • Provide concise and informative written & verbal updates to the customer and their tickets.
  • Transition open support cases to other offices, during a shift change.
  • Follow internal procedures to write case notes, troubleshooting procedures, escalations, findings and resolution steps.
  • Follow up on all open tickets in a timely manner and follow through to resolution.
